Volunteer
The late humorist Erma Bombeck once said, “Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience and just plain love for one another.” Volunteering gives you an opportunity to change people’s lives for the better … even your own. Here at Emerge, we are looking for people who share our vision and wish to support individuals with disabilities. The longer you commit to a person’s life, the more involved you become and the more change you create. Why not consider making a commitment …
There are many different ways to volunteer at Emerge:
- Volunteer half of a Saturday at one of Emerge’s organized parties (Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day and many, many more)
- Spend quality time as a friend
- Take someone out to a dinner, movie, bowling or mall
- Work on or clean a house or apartment
- Rake leaves or cut grass
- Shovel snow
- Plant a flower or vegetable garden
- And all the different ways you think you can help
If you are hesitant to commit so much time at first, then you can meet a person at a party before making the longer term commitment. Our volunteers are trained to work with specific individuals so there is no guess work as how to best help each person.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer in anyway, please contact Mike Gahagan (mgahagan@emergeinc.org or 443-288-8251).
