Residential

The Emerge residential program serves individuals in one to three person Alternate Living Units located in homes or apartments at more than 100 locations in the entire Baltimore and Washington metropolitan areas. Each home is designed to focus around the needs of the individuals in that home. We offer a broad range of options from homes for individuals with multiple disabilities who require 24 hour supervision and assistance, to homes for individuals who are much more independent and need drop-in support. We work closely with individuals, families, case managers, and other provider agencies to determine the best living arrangement for each person. Services and placements are regularly reviewed, and are changed to fit the changing needs of each individual served.

Each home plans its own recreational activities. Emerge provides routine parties and events, from a huge annual awards banquet with hundreds of attendees, to company wide picnics at theme parks, to summer cookouts that everyone enjoys. Individuals enjoy activities on their own such as vacations to the Bahamas or Disney World. Other activities include bowling leagues, swimming, singing lessons and cooking classes just to name a few. We encourage individuals to learn and improve skills that lead to increased independence.

We provide assistance and training in money management, budgeting, preparing meals, housekeeping, laundry care, telephone usage, medication administration, behavioral support, nursing case management, transportation, , medical care, usage of medical and adaptive equipment, assistance with psychiatric care, hygiene, grooming, relationship building, socialization, therapy, and grocery shopping.
