Emerge Wins Gold!

by Stephen

The Emerge Special Olympics Flag Football Team won the gold and silver medals. Great teamwork pushed our players to victory and everyone got involved, including Chuck Fischer who ran in for a touchdown. Players from our team were made famous when they were featured on a news segment. Please congratulate our players on a job well done when you see one of the stars.

If you missed the football games but want to see our team play in the Special Olympics, don’t miss out on the basketball season. Our guys are coming back together for the basketball season which starts in a few weeks. Keep coming back for updates and news.

Thanks to all the ghouls and goblins who came and to those who gave a hand (this and all our parties are 100% volunteer work). The party was wicked. And congratulations to the winners of the dance and costume contests. Check out pictures of the party below.

Please vote for your favorite 2 pictures by sending me an email (stwamsley@emergeinc.org). The top 3 pictures will be added to the permanent photo album.

Think you can dance? Check out the moves in the videos below…

Make Your Voice Heard!

by Stephen

Join hundreds of others at town hall meetings across the state when they let our congressmen know how much we want to support individuals with disabilities. The lack of cost of living increases coupled with budget decreases the past two years has led to huge strains on the not-for-profit organizations providing services. Our legislators need to know that the lives of the most vulnerable Marylanders are too important to have funding take away.

If you want to learn more about the times and places of the town hall meetings or just get involved check out http://www.endthewaitnow.com/.

Help us win $50,000!

by Stephen

Join our Cause on Facebook to help us win $1,000 daily until Nov. 6 or a grand prize of $50,000. All you need to do is invite your friends to our important cause and donate $10. If you want to donate more than $10 you should donate $10 a day for a couple of days. We win by having the most number of donations not the most amount of money. It’s very easy and fun and helps generate interest in our mission. Our community is better able to keep in touch with each other and share ideas on our Cause page.

We want everyone to donate on Friday, October 16. This will make us almost certainly win the $1,000.

Donate right now by going to our donation page.

Join our cause by going to our cause page. If you don’t already have a Facebook account you may need to set one up (it’s very easy and straight forward).

Our cause just entered in America’s Giving Challenge, which gives us a chance to win $50,000!

Please donate today: http://www.causes.com/donations/select_donation_method?m=566209a4&cause_id=364946

To win, between now and November 7th we have to get the most donations to our cause (every person can donate once per day and have it count as a unique donation). We can also win daily awards of $1,000 and $500 if we can get the most people to donate in any 24-hour period. The great thing about this Challenge is that it doesn’t matter how much you give, but instead how much you do to encourage friends and family to get involved in our cause. We all need to come together and start promoting the cause if we want to win.

Each of us has tons of friends on Facebook who we can ask to donate to our cause. But let’s think big too—can you put our cause in your email signature, can you throw a party and get people to donate through the cause when they enter, can you organize other people to go out and fundraise from all of their friends? As you reach out to your friends be sure to tell them why this cause matters to you. The possibilities are endless so let’s talk about what we can do to win on the Wall of the cause or by replying to this bulletin.

I think we can do it! But it’s going to take all of us. Check out the Giving Challenge (www.causes.com), then visit our cause to see how we’re doing so far and get involved.

Donate right now by going to our donation page.

Let’s win $50,000 for our cause!

Please email stwamsley@emergeinc.org if you have any questions.

Golf Tournament was a hole-in-one!

by Stephen

picture-072The 18th Annual Golf Tournament for the benefit of Emerge, Inc. was another rousing success! Great turn out … wonderful weather … and a good time had by all!!! Emerge will net over $20,000 which will go directly to providing services through our various programs. Needless to say, this event would not be a success without the tireless work of Bob Webbert, Golf Committee Chairman, and his dedicated Committee Members: Dave Louden, Todd Lehman, Glenn McCain and Jason Herb.
